Nothing as Something
I just had another brilliant idea.
I could republish Negations as a blog, of course. That would be more your type of “thing,” these days. But I still have an allegiance to the book as a book. As an object. Of course it didn’t sell all that well the first time around.
But then it hit me - what that means in your marketing vocabulary is scarcity, and what that means is desirability, luxury. Oh it is brilliant!! There will only be a very limited number of them available, signed of course, available to pre-order. And then that will be it. A limited edition printing, all numbered and signed, “art” books. But that’s not even the best part — no.
The best part is this: I decided that since it will be a book again it may as well really look like a book, nice and old, with leather bindings and a bit of decay. And then I decided instead of making new books that look old, I will use ACTUAL OLD BOOKS. Yes — I am scouring the sidewalk stands and used bookshops now for old, very faded, laughably insignificant books, scraping the pages to further obscure what’s left of the text — and printing my new Negations right on top of them. I will negate the past with my Negations!
